Tips to Attract Millennial Home Buyers
Rising rent and historically low interest rates are just a few of the many reasons why experts are predicting an increase in homebuyers in the real estate marketplace this year.
Older millennials, or those between the ages of 25 and 34, are projected to represent as much as one-third of home purchases this year.
Use the following tips to help you target this segment of the prospective homebuyer population:
Go green. Invest in green features such as eco-friendly products or materials to attract younger buyers. Double-pane windows to maximize insulation are also a good idea.
Keep it modern. These buyers are attracted to a clutter-free home with sleek features. Open floor plans, hardwood or tile floors, and media rooms are among their most desired features.
Safety is important. Walkway lighting, window sensors and a new security system are all safety-focused features that will attract buyers looking to start a family or who already have young children. A reliable security camera system can also help make your home more marketable to millennial buyers.
Take a social selling approach. Approximately 99 percent of millennials browse homes online, so including social media in your marketing plan is critical. If you’re not sure where to begin with social media, a good first step is creating a Facebook page for your real estate purposes.
